The course provides a basic insight into Czech phonetics and phonology, focusing on the Czech vowel system and the spelling changes typical of Czech. Within the discipline, students are introduced to the systems of Czech consonants and vocals, to the issue of vowel changes (voicing assimilation, articulatory assimilation, hiatus, palatalization, etc.) and also to suprasegmental linguistic units. All this is set in the context of teaching for secondary schools.
